Bus Driver Kicks Boy Off Bus, Regrets It When He Gets Home, And Finds Him Waiting
Cruelty
The little boy’s story left everyone in the town speechless. It has been called neglect by some and cruel by others.
His dad, on the other hand, called it cruising for a bruising.
A cruel act like that was beyond his comprehension. When he asked his son if he was okay, he told him something that no father should ever have to hear.
No Malintent
The bus driver called it a harmless mistake when he was brought forward to explain himself. This wasn’t meant to happen. It was the fact that it happened at all that was the main issue.
Whether or not it was intentional didn’t matter. One person made a mistake and left a child vulnerable and alone.
This was completely unacceptable, no matter the reasoning.
Payback
His father spoke of “revenge” and getting the bus driver back. His words were taken to heart, which was the biggest problem.
It was inevitable that he would do something that shook the town the next time he was on that bus.
His father had spoken of revenge, but would the consequences of taking the shiny item from his father’s safe be worth the consequences?
What Was Happening
His father only realized what was going on after tragedy had struck. Leaving a boy in the snow alone was not the whole story. In reality, it was a cry for help, and no one noticed.
He had already lost a lot of time by the time he learned the truth.
In the close-knit community, everyone knew he had failed as a father. It would be impossible for him to recover from this.
Like Father Like Son
Jeffrey Trelawny admired his father more than anything else in the world.
When he was a toddler, his mother passed away, and he had no one else to depend on in his life.
Young Jeffrey was 11 years old, and he found it difficult to get along with most of his teachers and peers; he wasn’t what you’d call a normal child.
Detention
School was proving more than challenging for Jeffrey. His teachers didn’t take to him as he frequently played pranks on them. But, it was the bus driver whom he liked to prank the most.
While driving, he would place cherry bombs under her seat to scare her.
Despite these dangerous antics, he was never reprimanded. Rather than continuing on with the abuse, the bus driver simply resigned.
Someone New
Within a week of her resignation, the school hired a replacement bus driver. A man named Harry took over for the previous driver, but he was not going to be taken for a ride the same way.
It wasn’t yet apparent to Jeffrey that pulling his classic stunts on the new bus driver would backfire horribly.
There was nothing intimidating about the new bus driver, but he wasn’t all smiles and hugs either.
Do Not Tread On Me
Before Jeffrey could mess with the new bus driver, he needed to get the perfect window of opportunity to do so.
For the next few days, he would watch his victim, waiting for his chance to strike.
Observing the old man, however, he learned that he would not make for easy prey.
Long-Known
It was a small town, and people talked; the new driver knew exactly what made the old driver resign. He had been warned. Perhaps that’s why he took the job.
Now he had a chance to teach the boy a harsh lesson in respect.
In spite of whether Harry intended it or not, he was not going to take any nonsense from him. Jeffrey still intended to try, but little did he know that the consequences would be dire.
A Practical Joke
Within a week of starting, Jeffrey attempted to pull one of his classic pranks on the new driver. Under his seat, he threw a cherry bomb and waited for the chaos to ensue.
The young boy, however, could have never imagined that the driver had a plan of his own.
In advance of driving, he knew of his common antics and checked his seat. His temper flared when he saw the cherry bomb.
Get Out
Harry immediately knew that it was Jeffrey and took one look at the boy before saying a short phrase, “Get out.”
The boy was taken aback, “You can’t do that!” The boy cried, but the man had made up his mind.
“Yes, I can. You need to learn to be a good boy, which you aren’t.” He gestured to the door and waited patiently.
Out In The Cold
The boy was kicked off the bus so quickly that he wasn’t sure what was going on.
He was going to miss school, but that was the last concern. The bigger one was that he had no idea where he was.
He was at the drop-off point, but his dad always took him there. He started wandering, but that was his first mistake.
Lost And Cold
Jeffrey picked a direction and started walking. His feet quickly tired into the snow, and he rubbed his hands for warmth. He was only 11 and had no idea how to navigate town.
He just hoped he would find someone that could help him soon.
But he had no idea how concerned everyone around him would be when they found out what had happened.
Father Found Out
When the school told him that his son had failed to show up that day, his father went into panic mode.
He had dropped him off, so what had happened? He immediately got into his car and went out looking for him.
But he had no idea what the truth was. The school had to phone him to tell him what had really happened embarrassingly.
Seeing Red
The school called him and told him the unfortunate news that the bus driver had kicked him off the bus for misbehaving. Why had no one called him immediately afterward?
He saw red. He had to find his son before it was too late. Meanwhile, Jeffrey was struggling in the snow to make it back to where he lived. As a young boy, he had no idea where that even was.
