Rich Girl Blocked From Fortune Until She Gets A Job
She Had A Good Life
Everything had come easy to her. She lived a life where so could have anything she could ever dream of, so it was not that crazy to expect that her lavish lifestyle would continue after her father’s passing.
But she was in for a big surprise. A secret clause in her father’s will meant that she would have to become a welfare beneficiary in order to support herself. What led her to that fate?
A Succesful Man
Sydney resident Christopher Brown was a successful broker. His stock market fortune grew over time, and it is estimated that he is currently worth millions.
He earned the deepest respect from his coworkers and the public because of his economic success, but some people were also envious of him.
He Cared About The World
Some people wonder whether the money made by stock brokers is entirely lawful or ethical. Others perceive it as a sort of speculation, neglecting the fact that certain stock brokers genuinely do support the growth of companies, producing thousands of opportunities.
Nevertheless, Christopher was a guy who cared about his part of the globe and what he could do to create a better society for others who were less fortunate than he was. And he had a unique method for doing that.
Doing Good
Throughout his life, Christopher Brown earned a reputation for making significant financial contributions to a variety of nonprofits. He believed there was no justification for him to earn so much money if he wasn’t truly able to put it to any use other than to fulfill his personal desires.
It was values that he had always tried to pass along to Clare, who was fortunate enough to have grown up with far more privilege than most people can even imagine. There were a few bumps along that path for the wealthy father, however.
It Wasn’t Easy
Chris saw as his daughter Clare grew older that she ran a serious risk of turning into a pampered teenager who expected to get whatever she wanted with no work.
No matter how much her father would support her, Christopher knew that her daughter should make something of herself, even if she would never have to worry about paying bills. Clare proved to be difficult to deal with.
Freeloader
Clare enrolled in the most prestigious private schools in the area and got the most expensive education possible, but she seemed unmotivated to do something with her life.
Taking on this challenge was a constant source of stress and anxiety for Christopher. Having a daughter who is unproductive or does not contribute to society was not what he wanted for his daughter. On the subject, Clare, however, had a different opinion.
She Couldn’t Do It
Despite her protests, she insisted that she didn’t lack motivation; rather, her feeling of incapacity was the problem.
In Christopher’s opinion, the logic behind this argument never seemed to be one he could accept: maybe this was because he had an old-school mindset that made certain things hard for him to comprehend. Perhaps he saw right through it and believed it to be nothing more than an excuse. Following Clare’s explanation, you’ll have to decide which is most likely.
Her Problems
As someone with high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Clare found it extremely difficult to focus or progress toward any sort of goal.
Some people may be skeptical of these assertions, which have generated debate since Christopher’s inheritance scandal hit the news. Before passing judgment, there are a few considerations that should be taken into account.
It Depends On The Circumstances
The severity of these disorders might vary significantly depending on the patient’s situation and the extent of their condition.
It can be extremely challenging for people with ADHD and ASD to even complete the most basic tasks at times. However, if the right care is given, some people can handle demanding tasks. Chaos reigned after Christopher died; that’s the only thing that’s certain.
It All Came To An End
Clare was given a weekly allowance of $500 up until her father’s passing. She and her wife Laura resided in one of her father’s homes, which was sufficient for her to pay her bills.
However, after Christopher’s death, this stipend was terminated. And to make matters worse, two obscure provisions in her father’s will prevented her from receiving any of the fortunes.
$12 Million
Apparently, Christopher’s will left $12 million to his daughter, but only under two conditions: that she got a job and that she contributed something to society.
However, to this day, Clare refuses to do any of the above, claiming that her mental health conditions prevent her from doing so. This has forced her to resort to welfare to support herself. It has also created some big and mediatic family drama.
Short Attention Span
“I understand why these people want me to be a functioning member of society,” she recently said to the press, talking about her family.
“However, you have to look at my diagnosis and realize that’s not going to happen. I am not going to learn how to drive because I have ADHD. I have the attention span of a gnat.” Her wife, Lauren, has also spoken up on the matter.
No Executive Function
“She doesn’t have an executive function in the head,” she recently said. “Our cats would not get fed, they would starve because she would not remember that they need to eat.”
Lauren’s mom has publicly defended Clare as well: “She can’t work because she hates crowds, can’t concentrate, and people hate her because she’s gay.” However, Clare’s family has different views on the matter.
At Their Wit’s End
“We’d like her to get a job and contribute to society. Instead of her agreeing to her dead dad’s wishes, she turned around and sued her trust,” has said Clare’s cousin Jimmy.
“We are at our wit’s end. We have done nothing but love Clare.” But apparently, the last thing Clare has in mind is complying with her father’s wishes.
Not Going To Happen
“Give me what is rightfully mine. I am suffering”, she has pleaded with her family on a TV program. “Can you please stop with the whole “me getting a job”? It’s not happening. I am broke constantly and can’t do anything about it.”
Do you think there may be some truth to Clare’s claims? Or do you, like the rest of her family, believe they are just excuses?
