Global warming is melting away the glacial ice of the world famous Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. It’s estimated the ice fields along the mountain’s peak will be completely gone within the next 10 to 15 years. To raise awareness about climate change and its effect on the mountain, the founder of Three Twins Ice Cream, Neal Gottlieb, created the Mount Kilimanjaro sundae.
The ice cream is hand churned, using glacial ice from the mountain. Priced at $60,000 for one serving and $85,000 for two, money from each purchase is used to make a five-figure donation to an African environmental non-profit organization and includes first class airfare to Tanzania, 5-star accommodations, guided tour and souvenir T-shirt.

Created by a Japanese pastry chef, the Diamond Christmas Cake is the second most expensive dessert in the world with a price tag of $1.7 million. On Christmas day, the two-layered hexagon-shaped fruitcake encrusted in 170 carats worth of diamonds debuted on the jewelry floor of Tokyo’s Takashimaya department store. Sold in 2005, the cake took six months to design and one month to bake.
